What Is a SIP?
A Systematic Investment Plan is a way to invest a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals. SIP can build investing discipline and may provide rupee-cost averaging, but it does not remove market risk or guarantee returns.
How Does a SIP Calculator Work?
This SIP return calculator compounds each contribution using an effective periodic rate derived from your annual assumption. For a monthly SIP, it estimates future value across the number of monthly installments.
SIP Calculator Formula
FV = P × [((1 + r)ⁿ − 1) / r] × (1 + r)
P is the periodic investment, r is the periodic return rate, n is the number of installments and FV is the estimated future value. Results are mathematical projections, not guaranteed returns.
SIP Calculator Example
At ₹10,000 per month for 10 years and an assumed 12% annual return, you invest ₹12.00 L and the projected value is ₹22.40 L.
Does SIP Guarantee Returns?
No. Mutual fund returns are market-linked. Compare conservative, moderate and optimistic assumptions instead of relying on one projection.
SIP Calculator FAQs
Is a SIP calculator accurate?
The calculator follows its formula accurately, but future market returns are uncertain and actual results may differ.
What return rate should I use?
Use a reasonable assumption and compare multiple scenarios. Do not choose a rate only because it produces a desired result.
Can I use this for a financial goal?
Yes. Use Goal Planner to estimate the monthly SIP required for a target amount.
Does SIP reduce market risk?
Regular investing may spread purchase points, but it does not eliminate market risk.
Does this calculator include inflation?
Inflation is available under Advanced Options and shows an estimated value in today's purchasing power.
Can I stop a SIP at any time?
The calculator follows its formula accurately, but future market returns are uncertain and actual results may differ.
Is SIP better than a fixed deposit?
The calculator follows its formula accurately, but future market returns are uncertain and actual results may differ.
Important: SIP calculator results are estimates based on your assumed return rate. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme-related documents carefully before investing.
